Vancouver is widely known as a vegetarian and vegan-friendly city, and nothing showcases this more than Canada’s first and only vegan night market. What started in 2017 as a pop-up marketplace has become a series of lively indoor and outdoor night markets, depending on the time of year, popping up in Vancouver and beyond.
Spotlighting some of Canada’s coolest vegan brands, local crafts, and cruelty-free fashion and beauty products, the Vegan Night Market is more than just a place to grab a meal, though you’ll never find a shortage of options on that front either. Whether it’s an off-season night market or one of their popular beachside markets, you’re in for a fun evening of live music, local art, great food, and community connection.
“Our goal is to create an upbeat, welcoming atmosphere where all walks of life engage in the plant-based industry and support small businesses while giving back to those in need,” say organizers. “We’ve successfully raised over $60,000, which has gone to different animal not-for-profits as well as donated over 35+ carloads of physical donations back into the Vancouver East Side.”
This mission is made possible by the market’s by-admission donation.
Organizers share that they’ve also added four market dates in Toronto this year, and that they are now licensed to host alcohol brands. So market-goers will soon be able to sip their favourite adult beverage while they peruse the market’s vendors.
Each market will feature a unique lineup of food and drink vendors, local artisans, musicians, and DJs, so make sure to check back soon for those details.
The Vegan Night Market will pop up at the following Vancouver locations this year:
