Vancouver’s upcoming heat wave will have us hotter than Miami

You may or may not have heard but it looks like Vancouver is going to get a little bit toasty this week. Environment Canada has handed out a special weather statement for Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and beyond. But what’s pretty crazy about this is that we might break some all-time heat records.

From Thursday onward, you can expect to see temperatures rising into the mid to high 20s. On Thursday it looks like we’ll start at around 22 with the average yearly temperature for this time being 19.9. Then on Friday through to Sunday, you can expect temperatures to fluctuate between 26 to upwards of 28 degrees. For context, the normal temps this time of year over this weekend are around 20-20.1.

Now what’s even crazier is that those projected temperatures are up to 32 degrees inland. But surprisingly some of the hottest days during this weekend throughout history occurred with temperatures in the 30s between the 1930s-1990s. Honestly, who really knows what’s going on with BC’s weather.

With all this in mind, be sure to stay hydrated this weekend and don’t go too hard. We can all use a little extra sun but just remember it can also be very draining if you’re not prepared for it. So bust out that SPF, have some fun, and stay safe. If you’d like to learn more you can click here.
