Parade of Lost Souls is a time-honoured spooky season tradition in East Vancouver, and this year’s festivities are sure to bring the haunted vibes to the forefront.
“If we are lost, then we are lost together,” reads the official event page. “All are welcome to join in this year to take part in the performance, music, and art of the Parade of Lost Souls.”
This year marks a thrilling new collaboration between the celebration and a mystery partner, which will be revealed at midnight on Halloween night. So make sure you check back while you’re out at any costume parties or Halloween events you have planned.
Produced by local community organization Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret, the Parade of Lost Souls typically takes place at Trout Lake. Though it looks like this year is shaking things up. There’s the new theme of “the thinning of the veil,” and a new secret location, also to be revealed on Oct. 31, 2025.
Leading up to the parade, spooky season lovers can gather at the Britannia Community Centre for free, accessible costume-making workshops. This means that throughout October, you’ll have a chance to create some truly terrifying, whimsical, and inventive costumes ahead of the event.
Those interested can sign up to participate in a free workshop using this online form.
Prefer to purchase a costume this year? You can check out their studio at 2050 Scotia St. for a selection of beautiful costumes made by members of the community.
Want to participate in an iconic zombie flash mob the day of the parade? Organizers are hosting a tutorial on how to perform the original choreography of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Organizers recommend attending at least two of the three workshops if you want to participate, with a suggested donation fee of $10 per person.
These workshops are open to ages 5+, taking place in the cafeteria of Britannia High School. The next flash mob workshops will take place on Sunday, Oct. 12 and Oct. 19, 2025, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Before the main parade begins, a Parade of Little Souls for younger children who want to participate in the vibrant annual festivities will start at 7 p.m.
The location of both parades will be revealed on Halloween night.
Stay tuned for the secret meet-up spot, as well as some exciting after parties to keep your eye on!
