The sun will set at 6 p.m. in Vancouver for a few days only next week

Later sunsets are on the way, Vancouver! The end of January marked the first 5 p.m. sunset of the year, and next week, the sun will go down at 6 p.m. for a few days only, before daylight saving time kicks in. While it might feel redundant to get excited when we’re about to “spring forward” an extra hour, it’s another marker as we slowly transition from winter to spring.

When is Vancouver’s first 6 p.m. sunset of the year?

According to Time and Date, the sun will set between 5:46 p.m. and 5:54 p.m. for the remainder of the month, with the first 6 p.m. sunset of the year on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Between then and Saturday, March 7, the sun sets between 6 and 6:05 p.m. in Vancouver, before jumping to 7:07 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

After that, the sun won’t set at 6 p.m. until October, with the final 6 p.m. sunset of the year falling on Oct. 26, 2026.

Between now and then, there are 245 glorious sunsets to enjoy, and only 25 days until spring!

Mark your calendars, and happy Lunar New Year, Vancouver.
