After over a year of Ontario Parks working to create a new provincial park in the Township of Uxbridge, it has become official. Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park will begin to have limited park operations starting next month and it will be free to visit. Here’s what to know.
According to Ontario Parks, the park is located on lands now known as Uxbridge, “that have been occupied and used by many nations including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and Wendat peoples in an area covered by the 1787 Johnson-Butler Purchase, also known as the Gunshot Treaty and the 1923 Williams Treaties.”
The park is built on a legacy of conservation, natural, and cultural heritage protection. But Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park is a little different compared to other provincial parks.

“Instead of a single connected block, the park is made up of individual parcels of lands within the Uxbridge area,” shares Ontario Parks.
“And while they’re not all connected today, it’s possible they might be linked by other lands, recreational areas, and trail systems in the future.”
That being said, as of July 1st, Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park will have limited park operations and self-guided activities while the park management planning process is being conducted.

If you’re eager to check out the new park, limited parking is available at 565 Old Stouffville Road and 579 Old Stouffville Road. And when we say limited, we mean it.
“If the parking area is full, for public safety please do not park along municipal roads,” shares Ontario Parks. “Consider visiting at another time or visiting any of the local trail networks and recreational areas.”
Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park is open from 8 AM to 10 PM daily. But make sure to be off the trails before dusk to ensure your safety.
It looks like we have a new park to explore!
