The University of Toronto is among the best in this global ranking

The University of Toronto is among some of the best! The school climbed to fourth place globally in the National Taiwan University ranking. The ranking evaluates universities based on their research output and impact and our city is in elite company.

NTU Ranking

According to the NTU University Rankings, Toronto clinched the top five along with Harvard University, Stanford University, University College London and the University of Oxford.

“Among public universities, U of T placed second globally and first in North America,” says the University of Toronto in an article detailing the honour.

The NTU ranking “analyzes scholarly papers and research citations, scoring each institution based on productivity, impact and excellence.”

This year, the top 1,000 universities were ranked with more than 1,500 schools considered.

“This ranking is yet another reminder that the research produced at the University of Toronto is truly world-class,” adds Leah Cowen, U of T’s vice-president, research and innovation, and strategic initiatives.

Other honours

NTU also ranked universities by certain fields and subjects with U of T ranking second globally in medicine, third globally in social sciences, second in clinical medicine, third in neurosciences and behaviour, fourth in psychiatry and psychology and sixth in biology and biochemistry.

At the end of the day, the University of Toronto continues to be the highest-ranked Canadian university overall.

Two other Canadian universities made the top 100 in the main NTU ranking, the University of British Columbia in 37th and McGill University in 57th.

We’re proud of you, U of T!
