Guess what, Vancouver? The University of British Columbia (UBC) has just ranked in the top 40 of over 1,000 institutions across the globe, and we’re here to share the details with you. The prestigious QS World Universities Ranking for 2025 is the “largest ever,” featuring 1,500 universities across 105 higher education systems, according to the ranking.
According to this year’s list, the U.S. is the most represented country, with 197 ranked institutions.
For the 13th year in a row, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) holds the number one spot, followed by Imperial College London, University of Oxford, and Harvard University.

In Canada, there are 31 institutions recognized. The University of British Columbia sits at the #38 spot this year, with the University of Toronto just a couple of spots ahead at #25.
With an overall score of 81, UBC has a near-perfect Academic Reputation ranking of 98.3 out of 100, and an Employer Reputation of 94.3.
