Here are some underrated spots to enjoy Vancouver’s cherry blossoms before they’re gone

With clear skies and sun in the forecast, it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy Vancouver’s cherry blossoms before the season comes to a close. And if you haven’t had the chance to wander around the city and take it all in, there’s still time – and these lesser-known spots are definitely worth checking out.

According to the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Fest, it’s the ideal time to check out the pink-turned-white Schmitt cherry flowers and ‘Choshu-hizakura’ blossoms, which are often edged in a darker pink, surrounded by bronze-ish leaves.

Here are some underrated spots to enjoy Vancouver’s cherry blossoms this spring.

Between South Cambie and South Main

The area between South Cambie and Main is currently at full bloom, so if you’re looking for rows and rows of pink and white cherry blossoms, start walking anywhere between West 16th and West King Edward Avenue. And if you need a caffeinated pick-me-up or sweet treat to tide you over, there’s always The Mighty Oak at West 18th and Columbia!

Riley Park-Little Mountain

This area kinda bleeds into South Cambie a little bit, but Riley Park has its own abundance of cherry blossom trees to check out. Start at Nat Bailey stadium, stroll through Queen Elizabeth Park, and head southeast towards Mountain View Cemetary for some spectacular spring colours.

Victoria-Fraserview

South Vancouver is swimming in cherry blossoms, but the Victoria-Fraserview neighbourhood is especially stunning at the moment. Head south between Victoria Drive and Elliott Street (anywhere south of East 54th) to enjoy some full-bloom blossoms before they’re gone.
