Grab your basket and head out to these four Ontario farms for u-pick peach season

While the end of July typically resonates with the final hurrah of the summer, there’s one thing that’s always exciting to look forward to: Ontario peaches!

From now until the end of the season, peaches will be ripening under the sun, and that means it’s time to visit the farm to pick your own!

Grab that basket and check out these Ontario u-pick peach farms.

Parkway Orchards

Golden, juicy peaches await you at the beautiful Parkway Orchards in Niagara-on-the-Lake. With 20 acres of land, mid-July marks the beginning of the farm’s peach and plum picking season, which goes until September.

Right now, golden plums and early-season peaches are ready to be grabbed, and at only $4/pound, you might be coming home with more than you thought!

Bridgmans’ Farm

Bring it down to Winona in the Hamilton area to pick fresh peaches on the 200-year-old Bridgmans’ Farm. With peach season here lasting around August, make sure you call ahead and book your spot — no walk-ins here!

No big deal, after all, Winona is home to the annual Peach Festival, so you know these fruits will be delicious and well worth it.

Dutchyn Farms

A day picking peaches in the lush orchards of Dutchyn Farms couldn’t get any more summer-y! Sun-ripened peaches and nectarines are available to pick your own, with three different basket sizes available.

Depending on what day of the week you decide to visit Dutchyn Farms, you may need to book an appointment in advance, so check out their website before you leave!

Pardo’s Berrie Farm

Freestone peaches will be ready to pick in August at Pardo’s Berrie Farm. Choose from 7L and 11-quart baskets ready to be used. Golden flesh and red blush are the signs to look for to ensure the juiciest peaches make it home with you!

Pro tip: Freestone peaches mean the fruit is easily removed from the pit, while the flesh of the clingstone peach is often attached to the pit. While peach season marks the end of summer, different varieties of peaches ripen at different times. In Ontario, some popular varieties include Harrow Beauty, Redhaven, and Loring.

Start the car and get out to peach country!
