Toronto’s new ice skating loop along the waterfront opens this November

Believe it or not, the season of winter activities is already starting. We may not have much snow in Ontario just yet, but we’ll soon be able to lace up our skates glide along the ice under the stars.

The Harbourfront Centre’s revamped rink is set to open on November 19th and it’s one of the city’s most picturesque spots for an outdoor skate. The centre told Curiocity all about its new rink this year, which they built as a solution to the infrastructural issues they faced last year.

The rink is nestled along the Lake Ontario shoreline, along with an ice loop in the “south orchard” that connects to the rest of the rink. And once you’re done, you can warm up with a hot drink from Boxcar Social right next door.

The skating area will stay open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday, and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It’ll also host skating lessons with instructors if you want to brush up on your skills.

The Harbourfront rink isn’t the only one to open in Toronto this month. The City announced recently that many of the city’s popular ice skating spots, including Nathan Philips Square, will open on November 27th.

November is shaping up to be quite the busy month in Toronto, with more holiday events and winter fests than you could possibly handle! The Distillery District’s towering festive tree is now lit up for the season, and with the Starbucks holiday menu officially out, you’ll have the perfect drink to sip on while you see it in all its glory.

We may be turning back our clocks and wearing more layers these days, but at least we have all these activities to distract us from our late-autumn grief.
