Toronto’s first indoor theatre show since the pandemic began planned for August

Live theatre will be back this summer, with the first indoor performance in Toronto since the pandemic began slated for August 4th! Mirvish Productions is presenting the Canadian premier of the Donmar Warehouse production of Blindness on stage at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

Blindness is an exhilarating production adapted by Tony and Olivier award-winning playwright Simon Stephens from the novel of the same name by Nobel Prize-winner José Saramago. It’s an incredible sound installation that tells the story of the rise and hopeful end of a global pandemic. Sounds relatable, huh?

The show was originally slated to perform in Toronto last November. But, of course, pandemic restrictions got in the way of that. When it opens in August, it’ll come with a few guidelines.

Each performance will be limited to 50 audience members at a time; all spaced out within the theatre. Folks will have to wear a mask for the duration of the show and there will be regular sanitization practices in place. Nothing we aren’t well accustomed to by now!

Tickets for Blindness go on sale to the public on Wednesday, June 23rd. Be sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss out. This live theatre experience is sure to be one you’ll remember.
