Toronto’s 187th anniversary is coming up! Here’s how the city’s celebrating

Toronto’s got a pretty big anniversary coming up! Our little city is celebrating for the 187th year in a row. We know, we know, she doesn’t look a day over 180. Well technically, Toronto is around 228 years old. But we’ve been coming together to celebrate for 187 years. This town is aging like fine wine and we are ready to party. Which is why we’re very pumped about the stellar lineup Celebrate Toronto has in store.

So if you’re not familiar with Celebrate Toronto, let us give you the rundown. This non-profit organization is all about highlighting the city’s past, present, and future through the work of all our incredible local artists, entertainers, and businesses. In previous years, they’ve put on unbeatable festivals for our city’s milestones and this year will be no different.

Alright, it’ll be a little different. In a normal year, the party would be happening in person. But this year it’s going down online. Thanks, COVID-19. But hey, that doesn’t mean it’ll be any less fun! You can log on this March to rebuild and reconnect with your fellow Torontonians. The events in store include the Toronto Made Market, tons of online games and contests, plus, of course, the #RemiDanceChallenge.

On top of the online party, the event will also be raising funds for the city’s COVID-19 relief program. All the proceeds will go directly to DonateTO. You can learn more about that incredible initiative right here.

So get ready for a birthday celebration like no other. We hope sure hope we age as well as Toronto has!
