Batten down the hatches, Toronto! Snowmaggedon has officially hit the city and it’s not slowing down yet. If you haven’t taken a look outside yet this morning, be prepared for quite the sight. Over a foot of snow has fallen so far and according to weather warnings, we’ve still got more to go. Environment Canada’s Toronto snow storm warning says blizzard conditions, high winds and more snowfall will persist until this evening.
“Blizzard conditions with gusty winds and persistent visibility near zero in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring,” says the weather alert. Total snowfall amounts will reach up to 50 cm, along with 60 km/hour winds.
People are starting to venture out into the chaos and share their photos of the storm.
One resident measured the snow accumulation in their driveway this morning, which came out to a whopping 35 cm. But, according to the alert, the storm is just getting started.
Even the dogs are shook.
One person braved the elements to start shoveling, but from the looks of it, they’ll be at it for quite a while.
Needless to say, the road conditions are not exactly ideal if you plan to drive anywhere.
That is, if you can dig your car out of the snow in the first place.
The blowing snow makes it even harder to see, so if you’re venturing outside today, be prepared for a whiteout.
Looks like this may be what we’re dealing with until dinnertime tonight. Stay warm and stay safe, Toronto!
