Toronto’s getting direct flights to this stunning Dutch Caribbean island with a pink beach

Itchin’ to travel but not sure where to? You’re in luck! Toronto just got a new nonstop flight destination via WestJet and it’s a total dream. The stunning Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire has been added to its list of Caribbean destinations and here’s what to know.

In the exciting new announcement, WestJet shared that it will begin flights to Bonaire starting December 12, 2023. The airline will offer flights once per week between Toronto and the island on Tuesdays and vice versa on Wednesdays.

“WestJet is excited to bring the beauty and allure of Bonaire to Canadian travellers looking to trade in their winter routines for world-renowned adventure and pristine white beaches,” said WestJet Vice-President, Network Planning, Alliances and Commercial Development, Chris Avery.

“As we look towards the colder months ahead and our exciting growth plan, we are more committed than ever to expanding our network, offering unforgettable experiences, and connecting our guests to remarkable destinations like Bonaire.”

With gorgeous, bright-white sand beaches, who wouldn’t want to explore the amazing island? According to its tourism group, there are over 22 tropical beaches on Bonaire and Klein Bonaire, one of them being its famous Pink Beach, know for… well, being pink!

“Pink Beach gets its color from the crushed shells of millions of microscopic bright pink sea creatures called foraminifera,” said Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “Pink Beach is an excellent beach to visit if you want to do some snorkeling or scuba diving. Although the strip of sand is relatively narrow, it is a great spot for relaxing picnics and the views are idyllic.”

If you’re like us, then you’ll probably want to book the first flight out right about now.

WestJet is the only carrier providing scheduled non-stop flights to the island of Bonaire, according to the release.

The island is located in the Leeward Antilles in the Caribbean Sea and is accessible through The Flamingo International Airport. Bonaire is known for its shore diving and windsurfing, making it an ideal destination for those seeking warm weather and a little escape from reality.
