You can bus between Toronto & Algonquin Park with your pet all summer long

Enjoying Ontario’s great outdoors with your pals (and pup!) just got way easier. Canada’s non-profit bus service Parkbus is running trips between downtown Toronto and Algonquin Provincial Park all spring and summer long. The best part? Your pet is invited!

“Bigger than the State of Delaware, Algonquin is Ontario’s popular park and a world-class destination offering adventurers and comfort seekers alike their ultimate outdoor experience,” says the Parkbus website.

The 275-km journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours from Toronto, but the coach seating, air conditioning, and onboard bathroom will make it a comfy one.

Plus, there’s plenty of room to store backpacks, camping gear, and coolers, as well as folding bikes and inflatable kayaks. Regular bikes must be reserved ahead of time as space is limited.

There are two pickup and dropoff points along the way, one at Yonge and Bloor and one at the carpool lot near Major Mackenzie and Highway 400.  Then, it’s straight to one of Ontario’s most incredible nature destinations.

Until May 15, Parkbus is offering special early-bird discounts on fares to its destinations, which include Bruce Peninsula, Georgian Bay Islands Provincial Park, Elora Gorge, Rockwood Conservation Area, Rattlesnake Point, and Kelso.

Parkbus also runs group hike events called ActiveDays, described as “a vibrant community of diverse nature lovers who adventure the wild woods of Ontario together.”

The ActiveDays trips coming up this month include Lion’s Head and Trilliums at Awenda.

If you’re hoping to cross some new trails off your bucket list, Parkbus is an easy and accessible way to do it.
