The top travel spots in Ontario have been revealed

In-country and in-province travel is on the rise. If you’re looking to stay local when making your travel plans for the spring and summer, I don’t blame you! Ontario has so much to see and do that it can be hard to narrow down where to explore first. Destination Ontario just released the province’s top travel trends, including where the go-to spots are.

Who’s up for a road trip?

According to Destination Ontario, “a new survey conducted by Context Research Group (CRG) on behalf of Destination Ontario shows domestic travel is at the forefront of Ontarians’ minds. Nearly nine in 10 Ontario residents are likely to take an overnight pleasure trip within the province in the next year.”

The survey shows that residents of Ontario favour “well-known, scenic and easy-to-get-to destinations,” with the Niagara Region, Toronto, Ottawa and Muskoka Region coming out on top for short getaways.

When it comes to travel food expriences in Ontario, visiting farmers’ markets and dining at lakeside restaurants are the most favoured. The best destinations to do so? Niagara RegionToronto and Prince Edward County.

“Tourism is a driving force behind Ontario’s economy and identity, connecting communities and creating unforgettable experiences for travellers. As we celebrate National Tourism Week, these insights show just how passionate Ontarians are about exploring their own backyard,” says Vincenza Ronaldi, President and CEO of Destination Ontario.

“With so much to see and do across the province, now is the perfect time to plan your next Ontario adventure,” Ronaldi continues.

What are you waiting for, Ontario? Start planning that spring or summer getaway! You won’t have to go far.
