Canadians were on the move last year, and some cities were more popular than others. U-Haul has released its report of the top growth cities in Canada for 2022 based on the number of one-way trips throughout the year.
The report, called the U-Haul Growth Index, uses transactional data to determine which cities and provinces saw the biggest growth of new residents.
It is compiled according to the net gain (or loss) of one-way U-Haul trucks arriving in a province or city, versus departing from that province or city, in a calendar year.
“Migration trends data is compiled from well over 2 million one-way U-Haul truck transactions that occur annually across Canada and the U.S,” says the U-Haul report.
