Surf’s up: Tofino was just ranked one of the world’s greatest places by TIME Magazine

We like to think of Tofino as a little slice of beach heaven, and we’re definitely not alone in that sentiment. To add to the long list of praises and accolades, Tofino, BC has now been ranked as one of the world’s greatest places by TIME Magazine. Talk about a shout-out!

Hoping to spur travel “post-pandemic,” TIME set out to create a list of the top global destinations by soliciting nominations from their international network. The resulting 50 “top spots” were selected for their paths to economic recovery, their conservation efforts, and the overall growth of their tourism industries.

You can view the full list of “extraordinary destinations” here.

Now, back to Tofino.

It comes as no surprise that the former fishing village and ancestral lands of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation of the Nuu-chah-nulth people are on this list. From the vast, incredible beaches, crashing waves, and old-growth forests to the many waterfront activities available (including floating saunas) – a trip to Tofino is pretty much number 1 on any summer bucket list.

TIME writes that it’s one of the best places on the “windswept west coast” to reconnect with nature. Visitors can enjoy wildlife tours, forest hiking, and of course, learning to surf. Folks can even go whale watching if that’s your jam!

We’ll see catch you (and some waves) there, folks!
