This Toronto neighbourhood was just named among the ‘coolest’ in the world

Do you know where the coolest neighbourhood in the city is? According to a newly released list, it’s not Ossington this time around. TimeOut has revealed its top picks for the absolute coolest neighbourhoods in the world, and this Toronto strip made the cut.

There’s no denying that Toronto is home to world-class experiences that contribute to cultivating culture, community and belonging. It’s what makes Toronto one of the most desirable cities to live in. But with that sentiment comes a lot of pressure to keep its residents wanting more as they explore this concrete jungle.

Love for our city

The city and, most importantly, its residents have invested in Toronto now more than ever — especially when it comes to bringing nightlife, food, and drink to our neighbourhoods.

And that’s something TimeOut noticed when compiling this year’s coolest neighbourhoods in the world. Its network was asked to nominate the vibiest district in their hometown right now.

It then ranked every neighbourhood against criteria, which include “culture, community, liveability, nightlife, food and drink, street life and that hard-to-define sense of ‘nowness.'”

The ‘coolest’ neighbourhood

The list highlights 39 wonderful pockets of the world, and apparently, Toronto’s Davenport community is part of it.

“Set against suburban streets and buzzy Geary Avenue (long home to industrial factories and autobody shops), Davenport is a hip area peppered with lively patios, bakery-cafés and cultural warehouse spaces,” shares Laura Osborne from TimeOut.

“It’s a magnet for creative types and anchored by one of Toronto’s best new restaurants, General Public.”

It also mentions other fabulous businesses such as Famiglia Baldassarre, Casson Hardware, All Ours Studios, and Uma Nota Culture’s Geary Art Crawl.

It’s also a great destination to spend a day in. Get your caffeine fix at Balzac’s Powerhouse, stop by Amelia’s Market or Parallel Brothers for lunch, enjoy an evening at Paradise Grapevine, and end the night with a slice from North of Brooklyn Pizza.

If you’ve spent your time in the area, you’ll understand how wonderful it truly is.

While Ossington may have reigned supreme as Toronto’s coolest spot, Davenport is carving out its own identity, blending creativity and a buzzing food and nightlife scene that’s still evolving.

And that’s what makes it exciting! It’s not just a regular neighbourhood, it’s one that’s actively writing its story.
