This Toronto company will put your vaccine QR code on an ugly Christmas sweater

There’s nothing festive about scrambling to find your proof of vaccination, and this Toronto-based creative agency knows that. The Hive has come up with a way to get your QR code checked in true holiday fashion — through your very own Ugly Sweater Passport!

“No more fumbling through your phone to find your vaccine proof. Now, scan your sweater and let the merry making begin,” the website says.

The sweater is exactly what it sounds like, a crewneck with festive designs and your unique QR code printed on the front.

The goal is to make the proof of vaccination process easy and fun but isn’t intended to be a replacement for your official government documents. Only your name and birthdate are displayed on the vaccine QR code.

“The vaccine code is so cold and government-y,” said The Hive’s associate creative director to CTV News. “We felt the Ugly Sweater Passport was a nice way to add some classic holiday fun and joy into the COVID holiday season.”

The scannable code actually works most of the time, but the agency says you should still carry your proof of vaccination documents just in case.

The sweaters are currently sold out, but you can get on the waitlist to find out when they’ll be available and for the chance to get one for free.
