Does Santa have a summer home? It’s a question we want to know the answer to, but we’re going to guess. While we can’t see him heading to the Bahamas for a break, we did find a remote BC estate for sale that would be perfect to relax at after the holiday push. Say hello to the River House Estate.
Located in northern BC, this gated property features a main house, a studio space (for toy-building, of course) and 3 guest cabins so that the C-suite elves can pop down for a weekend. And it is truly remote- the nearest town, Smithers, is still a 45-minute drive away.

Not that it matters though, since ol’ Saint Nick is sure to be taking the reindeer down with him. And luckily, this estate comes with a helipad, that we’re positive can be repurposed into a sled-landing area. Sure, those reindeer might have to learn a couple of new maneuvers, but it’s doable.
There’s no shortage of space for Santa to wander around, either. Sitting on a seriously big 293 acres, the River House Estate features mostly forested terrain, but also comes with 34 acres of hayfields, 27 of which are income producing. As for the other 7? You guessed it, that’s where those reindeer are going to be hanging out.
When he’s done being the natural outdoorsman that he is, Santa can enjoy some more modern amenities back at the main house. Him and Mrs. Clause can cook up a Christmas goose in the gourmet kitchen, challenge each other to some pool or shuffleboard, or hop into the home theatre to watch some holiday classics. Serious question- what would Santa’s favourite Christmas movie actually be? We’ve got no clue.
And if they actually visit during the summer months? Hoo boy, does nature await. Spread throughout the property are lakes, rivers and awe-inspiring forests, and all of them are frequented by some of Canada’s most iconic animals, ranging from migrating birds to moose to wolves. We hope Santa knows how to fly fish!
Remember how we said this estate would make Santa blush? Part of that reason is the price point. While this gorgeous estate costs the same as an upper-tier home in Vancouver, the $5.3M price tag has us hoping that Santa’s got some good bankers on his side. If you’d rather buy it for him as a gift, you can check out the listing in full right here.
