Dang, and we thought pizza parties were the pinnacle of employee appreciation. An Ontario engineering firm called Crozier recently announced a new program to help their employees buy their first homes. Not bad, and especially when they are over 200 employees working for them. And guess what? They’re also hiring over 30 positions right now.
Basically, Crozier will provide up to $20,000 to each employee looking to buy their first home. The program is modelled after the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s own First-Time Home Buyer Incentive. That one, in contrast, offers up to 10% of the purchase price of the home, but with an equivalent stake in it once it’s sold.

Remember when we mentioned that Crozier is hiring? Well, they are, and there are currently over 30 job postings for positions in Ontario. Despite the majority of the roles being in moderate to advanced engineering capacities, there are also administrative and HR roles open right now.
While $20,000 probably (or definitely) isn’t enough in itself for a down payment in like, Toronto, it does offer significant relief for those looking to buy their first home. After all, a bigger down payment means a smaller mortgage and less expensive interest payments.
According to a press release, Crozier is committed to both the professional and personal development of its employees. Well, we’ll be the first to admit that this is definitely putting your money where your mouth is. Maybe we’ll talk to the Curiocity brass and see if we can get like $500 as part of a ‘jet-ski’ fund or something.
That’s an appropriate alternative, right?
