We don’t mean to spill any beans, wickie, but this contest is too good to keep a secret. The Göteburg Film Festival recently announced the Isolated Lighthouse contest. Basically, they’re offering a movie fan a once-in-a-lifetime chance to enjoy the 2021 fest, alone in an isolated lighthouse off the coast of Sweden. Robert Eggers, eat your heart out.
In a nutshell, the winner of this contest will be given one week’s accommodation at a lighthouse-turned-resort called Pater Noster. Originally built in 1868, the lighthouse functioned for almost a century before being deactivated in the 70s. Before you ask, yes, there is a fresnel lens to get lost in. We’re sorry, these in-jokes really only work if you’ve seen The Lighthouse. We’re keeping them, though.

While there, the winner will be expected to post daily videos talking about the films they watched. While we’re expecting a film buff to win, the contest is open to everyone, and all you need to do is fire off an email about why you want to go. The cut-off for that is January 17th, but interviews start on January 12th.
Think you have what it takes to spend a week in isolation watching movies? Who are we kidding, practically every adult around the world did that in 2020. To apply for the Isolated Lighthouse contest, just click here.
