This insane BC waterfront estate just sold for a record-setting price

Expensive houses in BC? Can’t say we’ve ever heard of that. Obviously, you know we’re kidding but a pretty spectacular home in Metchosin just broke the record for the most expensive residential sale in Greater Victoria. Have any guesses for the price? Let’s get into the details.

The oceanfront property takes up 67 acres including a 10,700 square foot main home. If that sounds big, it is. The home has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a half bath, a swimming pool, a reflecting pool (for all that hard thinking), a hot tub, and a garage. That’s not all though, the property also has a tennis court, boat launch, and more.

Not to mention with 67 acres, you have plenty of space to do whatever the heck you want. You could have a farm, probably your own music festival, or just build your own private little play village like Marie Antoinette. Now as much as we like to poke fun at over-the-top displays of extravagance there are a few extra details you should know.

Namely that this home is located smack dab in the middle of “one of Canada’s most endangered natural ecosystems—the Garry Oak savannah”. It’s also worth noting that the home won the Canadian Architect Award in 2003 and a Lieutenant-Governor’s Award in 2008. Literally, what does this home not have going on for it?

At this point, you’re probably wondering what the new owner paid for it and the answer might surprise you. The home sold for $14.1 million which is obviously a lot of money but for that much land, the award-winning home, and the waterfront, it kinda seems like a deal. Regardless, congrats to the new owner and we recommend checking out the home pics here before they disappear from the internet.
