This fall workshop will teach you how to make Coast Salish weavings

Honestly folks, we’ve been waiting to talk about the ongoing workshops hosted by the Museum of Vancouver, but they always seem to be sold out whenever we want to showcase them! Luckily, we’ve been given the heads up of an amazing new offer for this fall. Let’s check it out!

This September, the Museum of Vancouver will be hosting the Coast Salish Wool Weaving Workshop as part of their ongoing Indigenous Artisan Workshops series. Hosted by the acclaimed weavers Chief Janice George and Willard ‘Buddy’ Joseph, the workshop will teach you “learn the twill and the twine techniques of Salish wool weaving”.

And of course, that also means you’ll be able to create something while you’re there! By the end of the 3-hour workshop, guests should have their very own ’embellished pendant’ to take home with them, alongside all the new knowledge about the art and its history.

Then, as a cherry on top, the workshop does also includes admission to the Museum of Vancouver in general. Basically, it’s a whole day of fun, and one we definitely think you should check out!
