This critically-acclaimed Seattle-shot film is playing at one spot only in town

It’s been a minute since Seattle has been on the map for film. But The Paper Tigers is changing that with its rollercoaster back story and praise from both American and international audiences. Trust us, this martial arts comedy is one that you don’t want to miss.

In recent years the inequalities of Hollywood have been widely exposed and this happens to be a big part of The Paper Tigers. Filmmaker, writer, and director, Tran Quoc Bao pitched the screenplay to Hollywood and instead of accepting a diverse cast, they asked that Bao use white actors. And sadly that’s an unsurprising response despite the moving being about martial arts.

Instead of going with the flow, Bao returned to Seattle and carried on with filming the movie with a diverse cast. And that turned out to be the right choice because Bao was able to create a heartwarming comedy and experience the support of Seattle. As the movie was shot right here, many businesses and organizations stepped up to help support the case and crew which not only created a great movie but also an unforgettable experience.

If you haven’t heard anything about the movie yet we’ll give a little synopsis without the spoilers. Basically, it follows three out-of-shape martial arts students who are avenging their instructor’s death. And while the theme may seem dark, in reality, it’s a heartwarming story showcasing a more realistic take on a classic genre. It’s well worth a watch.

Even more, The Paper Tigers is currently holding a perfect critic’s score of100% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning it’s absolutely worth a watch.

Luckily for you, you can check out the movie at West Seattle’s Admiral Theater starting this Friday. You can opt for either an in-theater or video on demand showing of the film.
