This closed Metro Van hotel used as a Stephen King setting now offers paranormal tours

While you can’t head there right now, we definitely suggest keeping this option in mind. The old Pacific Inn Hotel in Surrey, which shut down in 2018, has got a new way of entertaining guests. Now called the Pink Palace, the building is usually a film set. But, it’s got another option- paranormal tours. Let’s check it out.

Here’s a little backstory on the property. When the hotel was originally completed in 1992, the 150 room hotel was notorious for its Caribbean-themed interior and bright pink colour scheme. Like it or not, it definitely made a mark on the area. Up until its closure, at least.

Anyway, the hotel announced that it was going to become a DoubleTree by Hilton property in 2018, with extensive renovations planned. But, before that happens, the building is moonlighting as a filming location (Stephen King’s The Stand features a scene inside the hotel).

And alongside filming, they’re also offering ‘Paranormal Tours’ of the place. These offer ‘historical findings’ that may have led to ‘the spirits’ that roam the hotel. We’re a little skeptical, but we think walking around a big, old abandoned building is a fun way to spend an afternoon. All the better if it’s not illegal/dangerous to do it.

So, we’re keeping this on our radar for when interregional travel opens up again. If you’d like to as well, you can head to the Pink Palace website by clicking the link below!
