This Calgary makeup artist has worked with everyone from JLO to Selena Gomez

From Paris to Milan, Hollywood and New York, celebrity makeup artists get to see and do it ALL. Of course, because we’re still learning how not to overdo it with eyeliner, we’ll probably never get the chance to powder the noses of icons like Julianne Moore or Penelope Cruz. Instead, we’ll just live, paint and travel vicariously through Hung Vanngo, our new hometown hero.

Born in Vietnam, raised right here in Calgary, Alberta, Hung Vanngo is a world-renowned MUA and Instagram legend.

Thanks to his keen eye, knowledge of colour as well as composition, and what we can only assume are surgeon steady hands, Vanngo has made it BIG – and we mean that.

With a client list that includes the likes of Selena Gomez, Emily Ratajakowski, Cindy freaking Crawford, Sophie Turner, and Jennifer Lopez – just to name a few – it would be a gross understatement to say that he’s in high demand.

In addition to the faces of some of the world’s most beautiful, talented and well-known, his work has also been featured on the cover of Vogue, Cosmo, Elle, and on every red carpet worth being on.

Despite moving to Toronto in 2003 to pursue his career, he will always be a Calgarian – which is both inspiring and pretty cool. Almost as cool as the fact that he actually shares his tips and tricks with viewers over on YouTube. From skincare to brush placement, his tutorials cover nearly everything – though we can guarantee you’ll exit the screen a pro yourself.

For more photos of his work or to just follow his day-to-day, you can also check out his Instagram, where he has an insane audience of 2.2 million people – many of which he considers clients. AH, there must be something in Calgary’s water, folks – because this city is practically a talent factory.

Check him out, friends, and show our fellow-YYCer some love.
