2025 is off to a hot start so let’s keep it going, Vancouver. If your New Year resolution was to get out more, we have you covered. From skating to exciting live sports, these are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week.
Skating, anyone?
The Shipyards Skate Plaza is the perfect place for a date night or family outing with the downtown core and the mountains as your backdrop. Skating is free while rentals cost $5 to $7.
When: Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 6 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: 125 Victory Ship Way
Cost: Free admission ($5-$7 for skate rentals)
The Nordic trails at Cypress Mountain are a must-see this winter.
According to Cypress Mountain, the trails “run through the subalpine meadows and snowy mountain forests.” The trails are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
When: Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10
Where: 6000 Cypress Bowl Road
Cost: $22 per general admission ticket ($32 for snowshoe rentals)
Capilano Suspension Bridge will be lit end-to-end with a changing multi-colour display above the Capilano River!
This journey will take you into the illuminated rainforest and over the forest floor. You can also walk along the twinkling cliffside pathway of Cliffwalk. The experience is open daily with timeslots from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
When: Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10
Where: 3735 Capilano Road
Cost: $24.95 to $71.95 per ticket
This market has some of the city’s best food options, a place where you are guaranteed to find a local treasure.
Typically, the market is open daily, but this week it is closed on Monday. Because the market is indoors, it’s a great option if the weather is less than favourable.
When: Tuesday, Jan. 7 to Friday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: 1689 Johnston Street
Cost: Free admission
Robson Square’s ice skating rink is open every day this week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. so there’s no excuse not to get in some fun on the ice.
When: Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10
Where: 800 Robson Street
Cost: Free admission ($5 for skate rentals)
Head over to White Rock for a gorgeous stroll along the water.
50,000 lights make the waterfront glow, and there are even glowing tunnels and other photo opportunities so you can snap a few pictures.
When: Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10
Where: 15300 Marine Drive
Cost: Free
If you’ve been wanting to see a PWHL game but haven’t been able to because there’s no team in Vancouver, this is your chance.
The PWHL is doing a takeover of Rogers Arena on Wednesday, where the Toronto Sceptres and Montreal Victorie will face off.
Tickets are still available, grab yours before they sell out.
When: Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m.
Where: 800 Griffiths Way
Cost: $41.65+ per ticket
On the first Friday of every month, the Vancouver Art Gallery offers free admission from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
While it is free of cost, you can book your spot ahead of time to ensure entry.
When: Friday, Jan. 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: 750 Hornby Street
Cost: Free admission
Know a LAX fan or are you one yourself? The Warriors are at home on Friday evening taking on the Seals.
Grab some tickets and get ready for an action-filled evening.

Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is performing the score of Skyfall in concert on Friday, a great way to shake things up this week.
Tickets range from $49-$110.
