10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (Oct. 27-31)

We’re nearing the end of October, which means it’s time to soak up those gorgeous fall colours while you can and make plans for the upcoming week. From Halloween festivities to the Vancouver Opera’s newest production, here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (Oct. 27-31).

Verdi’s Rigoletto by Vancouver Opera

First premiering in 1851 in Venice, Verdi’s Rigoletto tells the story of a father’s desperate love for his daughter and the danger of vengeance. It follows the court jester Rigoletto, who seeks revenge on the Duke for the abuse of his daughter in a thriller that’s equal parts horrific and beautiful. The show will be sung in Italian with English projected titles, with three dates coming up with the Vancouver Opera.

When: Saturday, Oct. 25, Thursday, Oct. 30, and Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025

City of Richmond Fireworks Festival 

On Halloween night, you can check out the beloved annual Fireworks Festival in Richmond, a free celebration featuring live acrobats, jugglers, ghost hunters, and the “ShowStoppers” ensemble, spooky roaming actors, a live pumpkin carver, carnival-style games, festive bites, and an inflatable fun house maze. Oh, and a dazzling fireworks finale at 9 p.m.

When: Friday, Oct. 31, 2025
Time: 6:30 to 9:15 p.m.

Cost: Free admission

Fright Nights at the PNE

Vancouver’s scariest Halloween experience is back at the PNE, complete with seven haunted houses, terrifying rides and attractions, and roaming entertainment that is sure to knock your socks off. Weekdays are a great time to get ahead of the crowds that are sure to attend over the weekend!

When: Select nights from Oct. 1 to 31, 2025
Time: 6 to 11 p.m. or midnight, depending on the day
Where: 2901 East Hastings St. 
Cost: $39+ per person

Dead Fellows Haunted Brewhouse

Starting on Oct. 23, 2025, Strange Fellows can enjoy a haunted brewery like no other. Now in its third year, “Dead Fellows” brings all there is to love about spooky season to the forefront: haunting decorations and special effects, no-contact actors lurking in every corner, and a handful of surprises to keep you on your toes.

This year, guests can expect an all-new walkthrough haunted house experience that’s teeming with creepy decor and jump scares.

When: Thursday, Oct. 23 to Saturday, Oct. 25, and Thursday, Oct. 30 to Friday, Oct. 31
Time: Noon to 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday; until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

I Know What You Did Last Weekend

The Improv Centre on Granville Island has a new show to check out on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as select Thursdays until Nov. 1, 2025. I Know What You Did Last Weekend focuses on a group of friends who experience a tragic accident and are forced to keep a deadly secret. Inspired by ’90s teen slasher films, the show is sure to bring on the laughs.

Dracula – A Comedy of Terrors by Gordon Greenberg & Steve Rosen 

This 90-minute comedy show turns Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire tale into a comical, Gen Z-style retelling of Count Dracula’s story. If you’re looking for something Halloween-themed but still leans into comedy, this is a great show to add to your itinerary this week.

When: Thursday, Oct. 23 to Nov. 1, 2025

Mad House Halloween Party

The Kent is hosting a night of spooky music, dancing, mischief, and madness behind every mask. Guests can expect food and drink by Prosciutto and Friends: Bloody Butchers, two full-service bars, and tarot readings.

Time: 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Canyon Frights at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

From Oct. 10 to Nov. 2, 2025, you can step into a transformed forest at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and enjoy the spooky vibes. With glowing lights, creepy decor, pumpkins, and haunted woodland creatures coming to life at night, you’ll be able to see a whole different side of this famous suspension bridge.

When: Oct. 10 to Nov. 2, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., or until 9 p.m. on select nights in October
Where: 3735 Capilano Rd., North Vancouver
Cost: $78 per adult

Halloween Mystery Nights

Halloween Mystery Nights are back, starting this Thursday, with teams of two to six people invited to complete spooky challenges and collect clues as a mystery unfolds in downtown Vancouver. Costumes are encouraged!

When: Thursday, Oct. 16 to Oct. 31, 2025
Time: 5, 6, and 6:30 p.m.
Where: 550 West Hastings St.
Cost: $38 per person
