10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (June 2-6)

Welcome to the first week of June. It’s time to saddle up for a mixed bag of weather, but we won’t let a couple of raindrops get in the way of the impending summer vibes. From a beachside night market to a silent movie screening, to a Peach Pit concert at Deer Lake Park, here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (June 2-6).

Silent Movie Mondays – Gold Rush 

Travel back in time to the silent film era during the 1920s at the Orpheum Theatre this Monday, June 2, 2025, where Silent Movie Mondays will kick off with a screening. The event will be accompanied by dramatic music played live on the historic Wurlitzer organ, the last one of its kind in Canada.

There will also be a pre-show performance by the Gatsby Strutters Jazz Band and a discussion about the silent movie following the show, led by Keith Blackmore of Vancouver Film School.

Vegan Night Market 

Canada’s first and only all-vegan market is hosting another beachside night market this week, bringing dozens of plant-based food vendors and local artisans to Locarno Beach.

Free nights at the Vancouver Art Gallery 

The Vancouver Art Gallery offers free admission to the public on the first Friday of every month, from 4 to 8 p.m. The next free Friday night will be on June 6, 2025, so mark your calendars and get ready to enjoy some new exhibits.

Oh He Dead 

Washington D.C.’s Oh He Dead is bringing their unique funk-pop-rock sound to Vancouver’s Biltmore Cabaret on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Led by CJ Bowlin’ Johnson, the five-piece group includes lead guitarist Alex Salser, John Daise on the bass, Adam Ashforth on drums, and Piano Whitman on the keys.

Junction Public Market

This free public market has a licensed patio and has transformed customized shipping containers into an array of rotating pop-ups, vendors, and live entertainment space. Junction Public Market will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday starting May 1, 2025.

HAUSER – The Rebel Is Back 

Stjepan Hauser (also known as HAUSER) is a Croatian cellist embarking on a world tour and heading to UBC’s Doug Mitchell Stadium this Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Shipyards Night Market

The beloved Shipyards Night Market is back every Friday until September, providing the perfect opportunity to hit some patios or breweries after work, enjoy some live music, and snag some food truck eats at Shipbuilders Square.
