It’s the week of Valentine’s Day, a new Vancouver Opera production, and a big concert for folk/Americana fans. So don your warm layers and get ready to take on the city, because there’s plenty to do and see! Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (February 10-14).
From 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Pot Spot Studio, there will be a special Galentine’s-themed pottery night where guests can make adorable cupcake mugs, cake slice plates, and any other cake-themed creations they can think up, all accompanied by bubbles.

Vancouver Opera’s 65th season kicks off with “Flight” this weekend, a contemporary masterpiece by the renowned Jonathan Dove, and known as the greatest opera of the past 30 years. Directed by Morris Panych, the opera is inspired by a true story, blending humour and heartbreak on three upcoming dates: Saturday, Feb. 8, Feb. 13, and Feb. 16.

You don’t have to be coupled up to enjoy the transformed Capilano Suspension Bridge for Valentine’s Day. Walk high above the forest floor with a loved one and commemorate your visit with some fun pics under the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Tree or themed light displays.

Nathaniel David Rateliff is a singer-songwriter whose folksy music style definitely aligns with the Americana and blues genres, and he’s performing alongside his backing band the Night Sweats at Rogers Arena this week.

What could be more iconic on Valentine’s Day than a Barenaked Ladies concert?! This Friday, the legendary Canadian rock band is coming to Richmond’s River Rock Casino for a special show.

The beloved Vancouver Hot Chocolate Fest is back in the city, and this year’s participating spots have truly crafted some innovative sips of cocoa. So while you’re out and about running errands or enjoying the snow, it’s worth stopping by your fave coffee shop to see what chocolatey treat awaits.
