Who’s ready for a full weekend of concerts, street parties, food festivals, and the ‘best meteor shower of the year?’ From a specialty craft beer and cider festival to VMF’s Mount Pleasant Street Party, here are 12 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this weekend (August 9-11).
VMF is back this month with its annual free street party in Mount Pleasant, with multiple days of live music sets, food trucks, beverage gardens, and live art to enjoy.
Plus, during festival hours, many artists at the City Centre Artist Lodge will open their studios to attendees, allowing visitors to check out their works of art free of charge!

Eyes to the skies, Vancouver, because the ‘best meteor shower of the year’ is upon us, and it will peak later this weekend! From 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, visitors can get a closer look at the centre’s ‘Primer for the Perseids’ event.

Get ready for a day filled with soulful melodies and electrifying performances! The 2024 Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival returns to the picturesque Deer Lake Park on Saturday, August 10th. The festival features an incredible lineup of blues and roots musicians from all over the world. Plus, there will be food trucks, local craft beer, and more. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the genre, this event is perfect for the whole family to enjoy!

Vancouver’s annual sports and art beach festival is back this weekend with a full lineup of basketball, volleyball, tennis, chess, water polo, touch football, and spike games to check out.
The festival is all about celebrating the diversity and inclusion of all sports enthusiasts in the city, with live music, sunset yoga, and plenty more outdoor activities to take part in.

Now we come to Fridays on Front in New West, which is back with multiple night markets this month, starting this Friday, August 9th. Each festival will have its own theme and a different lineup of food and drink vendors, as well as market vendors.
Each night market will take place from 5 to 9 pm.

Love dumplings? The Asian Arts and Culture Society is putting on another all-day dumpling festival in Coquitlam this weekend, and you won’t want to miss it. The free-to-enter event will have dozens of dumpling vendors to visit from 11 am to 8 pm at the Town Centre Park.

The UBC farm’s annual Farmhouse Fest is a specialty craft beer and cider-tasting event with local saisons, sours, lambics, wild ales, and ciders to enjoy. There will even be a mix of natural wine, kombucha, and off-style beers to weave into your afternoon.
