Well, Edmonton, just like that, it’s mid-August! And that just means we’re seeing more and more summery events, and there is no better time to enjoy it than now. From musicals, to outdoor movies and music, and Pride kick off, here are the best things to do in Edmonton this week!
The Freewill Shakespeare Festival is in Edmonton this August, and they are bringing back the audience favourite Romeo and Juliet, as well as Twelfth Night. There are Pay What You Can showings, as well as ASL at select performances.

Sir Rod Stewart needs no introduction. Stewart’s first tour in four years is taking place this summer, and promises an unprecedented night of iconic hit songs from one of the best-selling music artists of all time!

SIX the Broadway Musical is coming to Edmonton, and it’s English History like you’ve never seen it before. See the story as it’s told by Henry VIII’s SIX wives as they come together in an all-girl pop group. Get the gang together and get your tickets early for the best seats.

The City is bringing back Movies on the Square and this week, you can watch The Princess Bride! Besides the movie, you can check out food trucks, and local organizations that will be on site. You’re encouraged to dress up, and there will be prizes for best costumes!

Celebrate love and diversity, and check out Alberta’s first 2-Spirit Powwow, then head back in time at Y2K @ Churchill, featuring a 90s-themed dance party with the legendary PROZZAK! And cap it off with Pride @ Churchill Square which features several artists including Ralph and Stereos.
