Saddle up for a full week of concerts, food deals, and masquerade parties! From a Mardi Gras celebration to the Tyler the Creator concert, here are 11 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (February 24-28).
Until this Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, the VIFF Centre is presenting two series of films spotlighting Black directors, artists, and creators: Akojo Film Collective and Celebrating Black Futures. The former explores the concept of home in African CInema, and the latter explores mythical and corporeal transmutations, curated by Kika Memeh.

The Vancouver International Mountain Film Fest is back until March 4, 2025, with 20 in-person movie screenings and 60 incredible films showcasing thought-provoking stories about outdoor activities like snowsports, mountain climbing, biking, and much more.
The festival will also spotlight some of the world’s leading artists and athletes at a variety of in-person workshops.

Rapper and artist Tyler the Creator is playing a Vancouver show as part of the CHROMAKOPIA tour, named after his recent album that came out in October 2024.

For the month of March, Bite of Burnaby is back with over 65 participating restaurants with fixed-price menus and dining deals, including options for under $15. So if you’ve wanted to try out a new restaurant in the area for a while, now’s your chance.
New this year are long-table dinners, hands-on workshops, and a variety of themed culinary events. Those who dine and snap a picture on socials with #BiteofBurnaby have the chance to win weekly prizes or a $500 Burnaby Dine, Shop, & Stay package.

The Big Easy Funk Ensemble is a band in East Van paying homage to the rich musical traditions of New Orleans, and they’re bringing the funk, jazz, soul, and blues to Vancouver this Friday, Feb. 28, alongside a Grateful Dead Tribute.

Speaking of iconic traditions, the Italian Cultural Centre is hosting. magical evening of mystery and fun inspired by the famous Venetian tradition of ‘Carnevale’ this week, and you won’t want to miss it. Starting at 6:30 p.m., visits will don their best masquerade masks and immerse themselves in the enchanting atmosphere of a centuries-old tradition, with simple masks available at the door for those who don’t have one of their own. Live DJs, delicious Venetian cicchetti (finger food), and plenty of dancing – what’s not to love?!

The Improv Centre on Granville Island is hosting a show based on the hopeful notes and letters of potential loves who locked eyes in public spaces; AKA missed connections. According to the Improv Centre’s website, the show will explore close calls and chance encounters alike.

It’s not too late to check out the Museum of Anthropology’s multimedia exhibition (and world premiere of), To Be Seen, To Be Heard, which tells the stories of First Nations communities across BC during the period of “potlatch prohibition” and other forms of erasure in Canada.

This two-day outdoor festival is bringing Western Canada’s largest house music event to Vancouver this May, and tickets are now available online! Headliners include John Summit, Sara Landry, May P, and Gorgon City, to name a few.

From Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can check out MONOVA’s rich museum collection, Echoes of Memory, which weaves together over 100 pieces telling untold stories of aging and memory loss, and the power of community in the human experience.
