Calgary has a whole lot going on this week, so if you’ve been wondering what to do with your free time, we’ve got you covered. It’s the last full week of summer, so now is the time to squeeze in a few more outdoor plans before fall officially arrives.
From a few annual favourites to new events popping up around the city, there’s no shortage of ways to fill your calendar. Here are 10 of the best things happening in and around Calgary this week.
Spend an evening painting alongside some furry company at Regal Cat Café’s Kitty Paint Night. You’ll get your own canvas and supplies to create your masterpiece, while the café’s resident cats roam around the space.

Reader Rock Garden is one of Calgary’s National Historic Sites, but there’s a whole story behind the garden and the man who created it. This evening talk will explore W.R. Reader’s history, his vision for the garden and how the site became the Calgary landmark it is today.

What if Juliet didn’t die over Romeo? & Juliet picks up where Shakespeare’s famous love story leaves off, following Juliet as she chooses a new life on her own terms. Created by the Emmy-winning writer from Schitt’s Creek, the musical features a pop-heavy soundtrack from Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Max Martin, with hits including “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”
When: Tuesday, Sept. 15 to Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026

After sunset, Heritage Park’s historic buildings become the setting for a 90-minute ghost tour. During the tour, you’ll take a walk through some of the park’s most haunted spots and hear the stories connected to the area.

The Rocky Mountain Wine and Food Festival is returning to Calgary, with a new home at Spruce Meadows. You can spend the evening sampling wines, spirits, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks, while local restaurants and food vendors serve up bites to pair perfectly with your drinks.
General admission starts at $25, while General Admission Plus starts at $68, and VIP tickets start at $100, with perks like sampling coupons, early access and dedicated entry lines.

Take a guided walk through Stampede Park and East Victoria Park with the CMLC and see Calgary’s Culture and Entertainment District as it continues to take shape. The tour will cover the area’s development and some of the projects that are changing this part of the city.

Put your cowboy boots to work at Ranchman’s for an evening of line dancing and square dancing. The free event will have square dance caller Glenn Watts and line dance caller Murielle Clements leading the dances.

Time: 5 to 7 p.m.
Where: Ranchmans Dance Hall – 9615 Macleod Trl. S., Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Free
The workshop pairs two things you don’t usually see together: natural perfume and tequila. During the event, you’ll learn how different fragrance notes work, experiment with scents, and make your own perfume to take home, all while sampling tequila throughout the night.

Where: The Westley Calgary Downtown – 630 4th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.

The Calgary Farmyard is lighting up for fall with two evenings of hot air balloons, thousands of lights, and seasonal activities set up throughout the space. Wander through the illuminated farm, check out the fall displays, and watch the balloons glow after dark. Food and drinks will also be available to grab while you explore.
