These Toronto goodie bags are the best & easiest way to support local this Mother’s Day

Still on the hunt for that perfect Mother’s Day gift? What if we told you there’s a way to make mom happy AND support local all in one! Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, buckle up friends because this is the real deal. We’re talking about Bag of Toronto. This amazing initiative is bringing you the best of small businesses all over the city just in time for the holiday.

So Bag of Toronto originally launched back in Spring 2020. We all know what went down around that time, and this program was created as a response to the pandemic to provide folks with a way to support small businesses through the struggle. Since then, they’ve run three wildly successful Bag of Toronto editions: Spring 2020, Holidays 2020, and Valentine’s Day 2021. Now we’re in for the fourth.

But wait. We haven’t told you what exactly Bag of Toronto is just yet! Let us enlighten you. Essentially, the non-profit organization sells curated collections of goodies from local shops all over the city. They’ve got different bags made up of stuff from different neighbourhoods – including Bloordale, Bloorcourt, Ossington, Queen West, College Promenade, Riverside, and Trinity Bellwoods. You just know the items from those trendy areas are going to be great.

There are over 85 local spots included in the program, and in each bag, the customer gets to enjoy 5-7 sample items from those local businesses. The vendors pay NO FEE to be included and the customers get some seriously great goodies. It’s a win-win, y’al!

So far, over $100,000 has been spent at local businesses through Bag of Toronto. Over 1750 bags have been sold and more than $5,800 has been donated to hyper-local charities. During these difficult times, that is great news.

So check out this amazing non-profit for all your Mother’s Day gift-giving needs. You can’t go wrong when you support local!
