There’s a free summer program at the Royal Ontario Museum & it covers their main floor!

There is no more entertaining, culturally rich and pocket-friendly hangout spot than the Royal Ontario Museum RN.

ICYMI, ROM is running its free summer program supported by the Temerty Foundation right now. The program lets you access the main floor—that is 80,000 sq ft of galleries, exhibitions and displays—for free from now to September 25.

In addition to the permanent and seasonal displays, you’ll also find a pop-up coffee bar and live performances every week. Basically,  ROM has everything you’d expect from your favourite hangout spot. And it won’t dig a hole in your wallet either.

The free ticket covers ROM’s suite of Asian galleries, two pandemic-themed exhibitions (#MyPandemicStory and Unmasking the Pandemic: From Personal Protection to Personal Expression), and the Daphne Cockwell Gallery dedicated to First Peoples art & culture. The last one is accessible year-round.

But the artistic highlight of the main floor is Kore 670, an ancient Greek sculpture on loan from the Acropolis Museum in Greece. This is one of the rare occasions when the sculpture has travelled outside of Athens in its over 2,000-year history, and it now stands proudly on display at  ROM as a symbol of cultural unity across nations.

So, for anyone looking for an exciting summer outing surrounded by tangible history, artistic masterpieces, delicious grub and fun performances, ROM is the place to be.

FYI, entry is free but you still need a ticket due to limited capacity. You can, of course, grab yours at the entry. Or play it safe and reserve your spot online via their website.
