Theatre Under the Stars has been transforming Stanley Park’s Malkin Bowl into a special summer stage for decades now, and it looks like this year will be no different! So get ready to enjoy a summer full of music, laughs, and artistry under the night sky.
Going all the way back to 1940, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) has become a tradition for live arts in the city. Every summer, the experience offers up both classic and contemporary plays to check out, often with a focus on musicals. Naturally, that’s the focus for their return this year.

Starting this July, the company will be presenting two iconic shows almost daily: Roald Dahl’s “Matilda The Musical” and Broadway’s musical comedy “The Prom.”
The former is a fast-paced adventure based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name. “Matilda The Musical” is perfect for the whole family, centred on a brilliant young girl with a penchant for reading and a wild imagination.
The latter is “full of heart and hope,” according to TUTS’ website. “The Prom” will focus on four down-on-their-luck Broadway actors who agree to help make Prom a reality for a small-town teen planning to take her girlfriend.
Either way, you can’t lose with your pick of the two.
Currently, subscription passes are on sale for both shows until May 17th, so now is the perfect time to secure your spot for the summer if you’re interested in seeing both!
Subscription passes cost $90 each, and come with your pick of the best seats in the house.
Early bird tickets go on sale on May 25th, and range from $20 to $55 each depending on seating. So if you’re interested in snagging tickets to individual shows at the best price point, late May is the time to do it!
So mark your calendars and get excited, Vancouver. We’ll keep you posted on all that’s to come!
