This seems like an appropriate start to what is already a very bewildering year. The Weeknd has featured a fellow Canadian celebrity on his new album Dawn FM and it’s probably the last person you’d expect but somehow, it just makes sense.
Jim Carrey who, like The Weekend, grew up in the Greater Toronto Area, took on the role of a radio host guiding listeners through the album in a soft and relaxing voice.
“You are now listening to 103.5 Dawn FM,” Carrey says on the first track of the album. “You’ve been in the dark for way too long, it’s time to walk into the light.”
“Accept your fate with open arms. Scared? We’ll be there to hold your hand and guide you through this painless transition,” he continues.

The collab seems like the perfect fit for the album which mimics a real radio station, even featuring commercial breaks.
Carrey is far from the only collab on the Dawn FM album. Others include Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Max Martin, and one of the directors of Adam Sandler’s movie Uncut Gems, Josh Safdie.
In his usual creative fashion, The Weeknd teased the album by transforming his face with prosthetics, this time making himself look much older.
The star even shared a photo of the album being promoted on the billboards in Dundas Square. Like Drake, he never forgets to pay tribute to his roots.
