The UofT is seeing a massive revitalization right now & it’s going to be stunning (PHOTOS)

As usual, Toronto is undergoing upgrades. You’ll never find a day that this city isn’t working on itself! This time, it’s the massive outdoor revitalization of the University of Toronto St George Campus. The upgrades will transform four main areas of the school: King’s College Circle, Hart House Circle, Sir Daniel Wilson Quad and the Back Campus Fields. The project is already underway and here is everything you need to know about it.

The project is being headed through a collaboration between KPMB Architects, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates (MVVA) and Urban Strategies. The massive initiative is one of the largest landscape infrastructure projects in Canada in recent history. It aims to transform a whopping 20 acres within the historic downtown campus.

All-in-all, the mission of the project is to evolve the campus into a more pedestrian-friendly place. There will be interwoven paths within King’s College Circle and a column of oak trees around Tower Road to enhance the important role of green space in academic success.

A priority of the plan is to reduce vehicle traffic on campus. Which is why a massive underground parking area will be installed under King’s College Circle. This relocation of vehicles will make the above ground space much more friendly for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

The project certainly looks like it’ll shape up to be an awesome enhancement to Toronto largest university. As of now, it’s expected to be complete in 2023. You can read more details about the University of Toronto landscaping revitalization right here.
