Jamie Lee Curtis guest stars in new series inspired by the Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist

Here’s a new binge-able Prime Video series that will leave you wanting more and possibly craving pancakes. The Sticky is a fast-paced, dark comedy, inspired by the true story dubbed the “Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist.” Oscar and Emmy winner Jamie Lee Curtis is behind this series and here’s what to know.

The new TV show is produced by Blumhouse Television, Comet Pictures, Megamix and Sphere Media. The six-episode half-hour series is set to premiere this December on Prime Video.

What’s it about?

The show follows Ruth Landry, played by Margo Martindale, who is described as a “tough, middle-aged maple syrup farmer”. She resorts to crime when bureaucratic powers threaten to strip away everything she holds dear

Landry partners with a hot-tempered Bostonian mobster, played by Chris Diamantopoulos, and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard, played by Guillaume Cyr. They carry out a multi-million dollar heist on Quebec’s maple syrup surplus.

Oscar and Emmy winner Jamie Lee Curtis appears as a guest star in the series. She just so happens to also be executive producing the show.

Is this based on a true story?

Yes, it is! It is inspired by the actual heist back in 2012.

More than $18 million worth of maple syrup was stolen from Quebec’s national reserves.

According to The Canadian Encyclopedia, the heist may be one of the largest thefts in Canadian history.

“Over a 10-month period, the thieves managed to steal approximately 2,700 tonnes of maple syrup,” it mentions.

“Authorities recovered 450 tonnes of the stolen maple syrup. Some of the recovered maple syrup was destroyed because it was not safe for human consumption.”

When and where can I watch it?

The Sticky premieres on December 6 exclusively on Prime Video.

We don’t know about you but we’ll be binge-watching it as soon as it drops.
