Canada’s largest museum is opening its doors for free this summer! The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is inviting the public to its main floor galleries and public spaces all season long in celebration of the museum’s new identity.
“As the country moves beyond the pandemic, a new ROM is emerging, one that will change the way people think about the role of the museum and its place in the city,” the museum announced on Thursday.
According to The ROM, the intention is to “disrupt perceptions about museums, reveal how the Museum addresses pressing present-day issues, and, after the turmoil of the pandemic, welcome people back to culture.”

To illustrate this transition, The ROM has released a powerful new film called “ROM IMMORTAL.”
By allowing the public to visit for free, the museum hopes to inspire “a new generation of museum-goers and help build back culture in the province.”
As part of the offering, visitors can stop by to see Kore 670, “a stunning sculpture from antiquity on loan from Greece.”
Other main-floor exhibits include #MyPandemicStory, Gallery of Chinese Architecture, Sigmund Samuel Gallery of Canada, and more.
“Over lunch or an afternoon, visitors can drop by ROM to have a coffee, listen to music and enjoy great works of art.”
