This global beauty brand just opened its new workshop concept store in Calgary

We love The Body Shop. Their products are clean. They source their ingredients sustainably and ethically. They time and again go the extra mile to reduce their environmental footprint and help others do the same. And the brand is at it yet again… this time with their new store at Market Mall.

The global beauty brand recently opened doors to its newest Calgary store but it’s not like their other stores. Instead of a regular “walk in, shop, walk out” retail experience, this one is a whole activist movement in itself. And they are calling it The Body Shop Workshop Store.

It is so named because this is where you can try and buy the products, get your refills at the refill station, learn about sustainability and take action. Basically, the store has everything you love about The Body Shop and more. Take a look—

THE STORE DESIGN

The store design is very sustainability-forward and is built on the circularity concept. You’ll find a lot of recycled and upcycled material in use at the store. The countertops, for example, are made from 100% recycled plastic. The storage units are crafted from part-recycled plastic. Then there is a lot of reclaimed wood.

THE ACT AREA

In addition to its design, what sets the Workshop store apart is the dedicated ACT area. Here is where you can familiarize yourself with the issues that are affecting our community. This is where you connect with like-minded environmentalists, sign petitions, engage with movements and show your support. And where you realize how rewarding social and environmental change can be.

THE REFILL STATION

The store also features the brand’s iconic refill station that they launched last year. As the name suggests, this is where you can refill your 300ml aluminum bottles with your fave shampoos, conditioners and handwashes.

THE PRODUCTS

The store carries all the covetable products that you use on the regular. That includes the newly launched Edelweiss range. For the uninitiated, Edelweiss is the resilient flower with all the antioxidant power that can be found growing in brutal Alpine conditions against extreme wind, snow and rain. It protects and repairs itself, thanks to its natural antioxidants, including Leontopodic acid, which is only produced when the flower is in distress.

80% of daily skin problems are caused by environmental aggressors like pollution and dust making skin look dull, dry and tired. The powerful natural protection systems found in Edelweiss make it the ideal skincare ingredient that defends against environmental aggressors, which can lead to premature aging. Edelweiss will protect your skin’s natural barrier making your skin look ever-so-smooth.

THE GIFTING STATION

This is where you channel your inner artist. Sure, you can personalize gifts for your loved ones with ribbons and recyclable paper. But you can also show some self-love. Personalize your refill bottles with cute stickers at the gifting station.

If you haven’t checked out this cool new gathering place we know as The Body Shop Workshop Store yet, well, do it RN!
