This iconic Calgary music venue could be closing down but you’ll have until the fall to jam out

Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end, but we never thought we’d see the day. Iconic live music venue, The Blues Can could be closing its doors – but not without a few more good tunes and a summer of fun.

According to the bar, a new condo building has been proposed for the Inglewood area.

This, of course, would result in the dance hall being torn down  – but it’s not over yet!

“A development permit sign has been erected at our beloved Blues Can announcing the developers who purchased our building’s plan,” they wrote.

Despite this, no one should count them out just yet!

“We are in talks with some true fans of The Blues Can that have resources far beyond what we have and have our fingers crossed so don’t lose hope,” they added.

“If we do have to say goodbye it will be a very sad and painful one.”

In the meantime, fans are encouraged to continue to visit and enjoy up-and-coming musicians every day until the end of the patio season – at least.

As of right now, there is no official end-date sight, but they said they may have until the fall to entertain.

“It has been a true privilege to be your host for so long. Far longer than we ever thought we would be here.” they continued.

“Thank you to all the musicians, patrons and all our wonderful staff past and present.”

For their current lineup and show times, visit their website now and keep rocking Calgary.

There’s still a chance they’ll see another 13 years.
