The tower is located on Caribout Mountain which is surrounded by White Bear Forest – home to many of Ontario’s oldest pine trees, some of which are more than 500 years old.
It was first built in 1910 out of wood but now bears steel beams, marking it as the area’s most famous landmark, according to Destination Ontario.
Per Temagami and District Chamber of Commerce, the tower is 100 feet tall and stands on the summit of Caribou Mountain 400 feet above the town.
The real reward is when you reach the top. Enjoy a panoramic view of the land below. It’s truly captivating.
Make sure to stop by before the winter season as it closes due to safety reasons.
“However, you may hike up the hill from the chalet (as far as the road is plowed) and visit the viewing platforms at the base of the tower level,” shares Temagami and District Chamber of Commerce.
Now what are you waiting for? Your next adventure awaits!
