There’s an Ontario lookout tower with panoramic views of forests & crystal-blue lakes

This summer is all about the sights. Northeastern Ontario’s Temagami Tower has unbeatable views, boasting clear shots of vast forests and stunning lakes, and stands at a whopping 100 feet tall. Want to take it all in for yourself? Here’s what to know.

According to Destination Ontario, Temagami Tower is “one of the best spots to view the surrounding landscape’s vast forests, dotted with crystal-blue lakes.”

Getting to the tower will take you up the Caribou Mountain in the middle of the 800-hectare White Bear Forest, home to some of Ontario’s oldest pine trees, some of which are around 500 years old.

The cupola at the top commands a 360-degree view of over 40 kilometres of land and water.

The lookout was originally made of wood when it was built back in 1910, but is now made up of steel to help preserve the landmark.

On a clear day, you can spot one of the highest points in Ontario atop Maple Mountain!

The tower is just a short walk from the parking lot at 112 Jack Guppy Way in the small municipality of Temagami.

Temagami Tower is only open during the warmer months, as climbing the stairs can get slippery during the winter, so don’t miss out on visiting, especially on a clear, summer day.

See you at the top!
