Calgary-born pop star Tate McRae just took home four major Junos

If you needed another reason to be proud of Calgary, this is it. Pop star Tate McRae just had a huge night at the Juno Awards 2026, taking home four major awards and proving once again that she’s one of the biggest names in Canadian music right now.

The pop star walked away with some serious wins, taking home Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, and Single of the Year for her hit song “Sports Car.”

Her So Close To What album played a major role in her success, earning recognition as one of the stand-out Canadian pop projects of the year. It was a competitive category, with McRae going up against Cameron Whitcomb, Josh Ross, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd. Still, her album managed to break through and earn one of the night’s top honours.

About the Juno Awards

The Juno Awards, often referred to as the Junos, are Canada’s biggest award show. It’s essentially the Canadian version of the Grammys!

The award show brings together the country’s top musical talent, recognizing artists across a wide range of genres, including country, pop, rock, hip-hop, and more. This year, the Junos took place in Hamilton, Ont.

What started back in 1970 has since evolved to one of the most important nights in the Canadian music industry. The awards are presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), which not only runs Canada’s biggest music awards show but also oversees the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, recognizing artists who have helped shape the industry.

Tate McRae’s previous Juno wins

Before her 2026 sweep, McRae already had an impressive track record at the Junos. In 2025, she won Album of the Year and Pop Album of the Year for Think Later, single of the year for her song “Exes,” and was named Artist of the Year.

With four Juno wins to her name this year, it’s just another reminder of how far she’s come and how quickly she has grown into one of Canada’s biggest music stars.
