Ontario Parks is hiring for over 1,500 student summer jobs right now

If you want to get paid to spend your summer in nature, we’ve got good news. There are hundreds of summer jobs for students at Ontario Parks this year and you’ll need to apply soon if you want to land the gig.

Ontario Parks is the largest employer of students in the whole province, and this year, there are anywhere from 1,500 to 2,000 jobs to fill.

If you love spending time in nature, care about environmental protection, love to learn and want to be part of a great community, then these jobs are for you!

“Students working at Ontario Parks have an opportunity to make important contributions to the protection and operation of Ontario’s 340 beautiful provincial parks,” said the government organization in a statement to Curiocity.

Students can apply to a wide variety of jobs that involve protecting the environment, outdoor recreation, and opportunities to educate visitors about Ontario’s natural and cultural heritage.

Below are just some of the jobs that students can apply for:

  • Park Warden
  • Park Interpreter
  • Operations Technician
  • Group Leader
  • Maintenance Mechanics
  • Equipment Operators
  • Reservation desk assistants
  • Office assistants/filing clerks
  • Groundskeepers
  • Cooks/kitchen staff
  • General labourers
  • Janitorial support

Some jobs have different requirements and responsibilities. For example, you might need a “G” license, the ability to work nights and/or weekends, and certain licenses that vary by position.

However, you will gain all kinds of new skills and knowledge while you’re on the job.

“Many students tackle special projects, take specialized training, or experience time in different departments during their time here,” says Ontario Parks’ website.

The deadline to apply for many of these roles is March 21st, 2023.
