Canada’s first elevated park is on abandoned railway bridge in Ontario & it’s perfect for stargazing

Underrated summer activity: stargazing. If you’re looking for the perfect place to check out the night sky and all it has to offer, Canada’s first and only elevated park is the place to be. St. Thomas Elevated Park is hosting stargazing nights this summer in Ontario and you could spot some truly remarkable sights!

According to St. Thomas Elevated Park, “Join us at the Elevated Park and meet astrophysicist Caroline El Khoury walk you through star stories and how to use our STEAM Centre telescopes.”

The nights you can partake in the guided stargazing are August 14th and 15th starting at 9:30 PM.

This is a free drop-in experience so no need to sign up or buy tickets, just pop by and enjoy!

The park is located over the Kettle Creek valley, a spot that once stood as a railway which was abandoned in the mid-1990s. To preserve the history of the structure the area was turned into an elevated park, which opened in 2019.

The sights certainly go outside of just stargazing, with local artists donating sculptures and artworks, which have been installed along the park over the years.

In fact, there are even life-sized art installations for spectators to enjoy!

If you can’t make it for the stargazing, St. Thomas Elevated Park is open from 5:00 AM – 11:00 PM seven days a week.

Enjoy the 850-foot-long elevated park for all it has to offer, Ontario!
